Staying current on laws

Topeka Capital-Journal, The, Apr 18, 2010

It has been a busy season for the Legislature and Gov. Mark Parkinson, who has signed more than 70 bills this session, some of which are listed below.

Because legislators toil on matters of interest to us, I try to do my part by reading and trying to stay somewhat informed. Hopefully, this update will be of interest to you. The information was provided by Rep. Ann Mah, D-Topeka, who tries to keep her constituents informed.

– HB 2125 requires a register of deeds to get a receipt showing that all taxes due on real estate have been paid before any plat or replat of survey. This is proposed to protect buyers.

– HB 2411 bans the chemicals used to make synthetic marijuana — K-2.

– HB 2448 allows pharmacists to give flu shots to children age 6 or older.

– HB 2577 requires licensing for addiction counselors
